2020-03-12 01:56

On February 4, Ambassador Guo Shaochun met with the Honourable Sibusiso Moyo, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, and had an in-depth discussion on bilateral cooperation in the fight against new coronavirus.

Ambassador Guo briefed the minister on China’s latest progress and effective measures. He stressed China, while pushing back the outbreak at home, is also working closely with the WHO and other international institutions and relevant countries to effectively contain the international spread, which was widely recognized by the international community. We are confident, under the strong leadership of President Xi and the CPC Central Committee, China will win this fight. China will continue to share information with Zimbabwe in an open, transparent and responsible way and work together with Zimbabwe for the well-being of the two peoples. The Chinese Embassy appreciates the scientific, rational, and objective measures taken so far by Zimbabwe, which put up a strong line of defense against the virus and protected the normal exchange and cooperation between the two countries. China is grateful to Zimbabwe for its firm support in this fight.

Minister Moyo said the Zimbabwean government and people would like to send their deep sympathy to the Chinese people and express their appreciation for China’s efforts to safeguard public health security at home and beyond. Zimbabwe has no doubt that China, with its strong social system, will triumph over the virus at an early date. Infectious disease is a common challenge of human society; at this moment, China should be supported by the international community. Zimbabwe will continue to stand with China to put the epidemic to an end.

The two sides also exchanged views on other issues of common interest.
