Ambassador Mr. Huang Ping pays courtesy visit to Vice President of Zimbabwe, Mohadi

On September 19, outgoing Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe Mr. Huang Ping paid courtesy visit to Zimbabwe Vice President, Mohadi. The Political Counsellor from the embassy Mr. Zhao Baogang and the Deputy Director of Asia and the Pacific in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Mr. Kitchen were present at the meeting. Ambassador Mr. Huang extended congratulatory message from the Vice President of China, Mr. Wang Qishan to President Mohadi on his inauguration as Vice President of Zimbabwe. Vice President Mohadi expressed his appreciation to China for the immediate congratulation on his new post.

Ambassador Mr. Huang bade farewell to Vice President Mohadi and reviewed the historical changes which took place in Zimbabwe and also on China-Zim relations. He stated that the interactions at the highest level between the two nations are substantial. Political trust has grown stronger, bilateral relations have upgraded to the level of comprehensive strategic cooperation partnership, practical co-operations between the two countries have achieved remarkable results, series of important projects which are relevant to Zimbabwean people’s living have been implemented, all played their key role in promoting economic and the social development of Zimbabwe. Ambassador Mr. Huang emphasized, in the next stage that China is willing to provide assistance in funds and materials within its capability to help Zimbabwe respond to the current situation of shortage of food resulted from Cholera outbreak and El nino phenomenon. At the same time we hope both sides continue to work together, strive to carry out co-operations in the sectors of agriculture, mining and tourism etc. and move two nation’s strategic cooperation partnership forward.

Vice President Mohadi fondly recalled the very strong traditional friendship of China and Zimbabwe, expressed his gratitude to China for the contributions to Zimbabwe’s realization of national independence, liberation and economic development, in particular the assistance in helping Zimbabwe respond to the Cholera outbreak and the shortage of food. He emphasized that Zimbabwe has entered a new era, it will actively open up to the outside world and hoped China would continue to provide Zimbabwe with its assistance, also encouraging Chinese enterprises to come and invest in Zimbabwe, develop in mining, infrastructure constructions and tourist co-operations, push China-Zim practical co-operation to achieve more remarkable results. Vice President Mohadi expressed his regret on Ambassador Mr. Huang Ping’s departure, wished him more success in the future post with continuous and greater contributions to Chinese diplomacy.

Both sides exchanged in-depth views on further promoting bilateral relationship development, deepening practical cooperation between the two counties.

After the meeting, Ambassador Mr. Huang accepted interviews from major media, such as Zimbabwe National TV, The Herald, Daily News, etc. and introduced information regarding the meeting with relevant proposals on developing China-Zim relationship.
