Chinese Culture Gala Successfully Concluded

On January 23, the Chinese Lunar New Year Cultural Gala hosted by the Ministry of Culture of China and the Chinese Embassy in Zimbabwe was successfully held in Harare and received a warm welcome by local and Chinese people in Zimbabwe.

 

The 7 Arts Theatre was filled with audience when the gala started at 19 hours. The Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Mr. Dokora, the Minister of Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Sevices Mr. Shamu, the Minister of State for Presidential Affairs Ms. Bhuka, the Minister for Provincial Affairs Harare Mr. Chikukwa, the Mayor of Harare Mr. Manyenyeni, the Deputy Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry Mr. Kanhanga, the Deputy Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Mr. Mavhima, Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe Mr. Lin Lin and spouse, as well as local officials, diplomats from different countries and Chinese people in Zimbabwe attended the event.

Ambassador Lin and Minister Dokora delivered speeches before the show. Ambassador Lin introduced the auspicious meaning embodied in Year of the Horse and expressed appreciation to the staff of Shenzhen Art Company and Tianjin Huoyuanjia Culture and Martial Arts School for coming a long way to Africa, bringing the warm greetings of our motherland.

Minister Dokora welcomed the art troupe and said that the cultural and art exchange between China and Zimbabwe has enjoyed great momentum in recent years. He had just sent 20 Zimbabwean teachers to receive martial arts training in China. He hoped that in the new year the two countries will continue to strength people-to-people communication.

During the two-hour gala, the artists sang Chinese and Shona songs, played traditional musical instruments, and performed martial arts and acrobatics, which were warmly received by the audience.
