On September 23, 2015, Dr. Fay Chung, Former Zimbabwean Minister of Education, Minister of Employment Creation and renowned educationist of Chinese origin, donated her newly published book “Zimbabwe Looking East” to the Chinese Embassy in Zimbabwe. Ambassador Lin Linand Madame, Political Counsellor Cui Chun, Defense Attache Li Jun, Vice Chancellor and Council members of the Women’s University in Africa as well as family members of Dr. Fay Chung attended the book donation ceremony held at the embassy.

Dr. Fay Chung outlined the purpose of her writing and the main content of this book, saying that the key to Zimbabwe’s development is not foreign aid, but an innovated way of thinking and a development path suited to the country’s own conditions. She said that Zimbabwe could learn from China and other Asian countries in terms of development experiences, and could also import the advanced technologies from those countries so that it could develop its own manufacturing and industry to achieve sustainable development.

Ambassador Lin spoke highly of Dr. Fay Chung for her concerns about Zimbabwe’s national development, her efforts to write a book in her seventies, and her opinion that Zimbabwe should find a development path according to its own conditions.He also said that China is willing to deepen cooperation with and help Zimbabwe find out its own development mode.
